Professor Sir Dieter Helm, NGOs too hard on government over nutrient neutrality

Sir Dieter Helm is Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Oxford. From 2012 to 2020, he was the Independent Chair of the Natural Capital Committee, providing advice to government on the sustainable use of natural capital.

In the wake of the Housing Secretary’s decision to end nutrient neutrality, Professor Sir Dieter Helm has said that it’s all too easy for NGOs to criticise government, but that notwithstanding, a long-term solution is needed to address the problem of nutrient loading.
