First Milk celebrates National Apprenticeship Week

First Milk has been celebrating National Apprenticeship Week. The company said that last year marked an exciting milestone as they welcomed their first three apprentices in engineering and business administration.

A company spokesperson said, “We seized the opportunity to nurture homegrown talent and pave the way for fulfilling long-term careers at First Milk.

“As well as our new apprentices, some of our colleagues are also pursuing apprenticeships to facilitate their development and advance in their careers.”

First Milk’s apprenticeship program is a key component of its emerging talent programme. The company aspires to have 5 per cent of its workforce coming up through from this programme.

The spokesperson said, “This commitment not only strengthens our team but also reinforces our dedication to being the employer of choice in our local communities.

Harley Twentyman is a Business Administration Apprentice who joined First Milk in September. He has spent time in different departments to learn about the business and expand his knowledge. He also spends one day a week at a local college.

Twentyman said,” I chose an apprenticeship to gain valuable work experience while also getting the academic benefits of a qualification. I’ve really enjoyed getting to spend time in different departments and growing my knowledge of both First Milk and business administration.

Aled Rogers is one of First Milk’s engineering apprentices. He chose an apprenticeship because it offers real work experience, career advancement, and the chance to learn while earning.

Rogers said, “An apprenticeship is the perfect way to learn new skills while gaining real work experience. At First Milk, I’ve had incredible support from mentors and peers, helping me develop in ways I never thought possible. Every day is a chance to grow, and I know that in four years, I’ll have a whole new skill set with endless opportunities ahead.”

Asked about advice for anyone considering an apprenticeship, Rogers said, “Go for it! It’s the best way to kick off your career while being supported every step of the way.”
