Report and table by Julia Aglionby, Professor of Practice, University of Cumbria
Defra has issued more details in the breakdown of the farming and countryside budget through to 2028/29 in a blog today following last week’s Spending Review. I’ve updated my figures from last week.
- Delinked payments will be deminimus and the same for both 2026/27 and 2027/28. Each SBI will see 98% reduction on their first £30,000 of BPS i.e. down to a maximum of £600 per annum. 100% reduction after £30K.
- The nature schemes budget is slightly higher at £450 million and covers Nature for Climate and Biodiversity Targets Programme plus Tree Planting and Peatlands.
- ELM budget will be pretty much the same for all 3 years (£1.95 billion increasing to £2 billion
