Ruth Grice – Solving the nature crisis is like climbing Mount Everest

Nuffield Scholar, Ruth Grice, says that farmers and environmentalists should work more closely together to solve the climate and the biodiversity crisis.

“I feel, when I think of the climate and the biodiversity crisis that we’re facing globally and within the UK at a local level – it feels like we’re trying to climb Mount Everest. The dairy farming community can give a good shot at climbing Mount Everest on their own, but actually we need to do it in partnership with other communities, and a key community to do that with is naturally the environmental sector. If I just think of walking around the fields we have here on our own dairy farm, I will look at that field in a very different way to someone from an environmental organisation – and marrying the two together can only be a good thing, if it’s done in the right way.”
